Should we keep asking God for the same thing over and over, or should we ask only once believing that He will grant our request in times of difficulty?

When we go to God in prayer, He hears our prayer, takes everything into consideration and answers our prayer according to His will.1

At times, God chooses to answer our prayer in a visible way immediately, and at other times, He chooses to answer our prayer at a later date; or so it may seem.  Remember, there is a time for everything. What we believe to be the right time, might not necessarily be the right time; God knows all things and takes all things into consideration.  God also chooses, at times, not to grant us our request; again taking all things into consideration.  And at other times, as with the apostle Paul, He tells us that His grace is sufficient to see us through our difficulty.3

Since God hears the prayers of His children, we should not be anxious about what is going on in our life.God knows our situation, and in all things He works for the good of those who love Him; those who have been called according to His purpose. That's not to say, however, that things will not be difficult, nor is it to say that things will always work out as we would have hoped.

When we pray, we need to be willing to accept the outcome (whatever it is); believing that it is God's will for us at that time.  That's why we can give thanks to God in all circumstances, although they might not be pleasant at the time. We know that God is in control, that He loves us, and that He will see us through our difficult times if we will only allow Him to do so.  When we truly believe this, only then will we have the peace of God that transcends all understanding.7

Remember, when you go to God in prayer, you should not only ask God to help you, but you should also seek His voice in the situation; you should ask God to reveal to you what He would have you to do.

It's, also, important to have faith in your prayers; faith that God not only hears your prayers, but, in His love and care for you, answers them.8

In answer to the question," Should we keep asking God for the same thing over and over, or should we ask only once believing that He will grant our request in times of difficulty?" the answer is, "Share with God what's on your heart, seek His guidance, and do not be anxious about anything?"9
